7:00 PM - 9:00 PMPushing Back Against Double Standards Towards Jews on Campus and In the Classroom
A conversation with New School Professor of History Natalia Mehlman Petrzela and Former Public School Teacher Karen Feldman
Professor Petrzela, a historian of contemporary American politics and culture, has been writing about insensitivities towards Jews and Israelis in American academia since 10/7. Most recently, she stood up to the country’s largest association of professional historians as they approved a resolution condemning Israel’s action in Gaza as “Scholasticide.” She was recently named lead scholar on the Jewish American Hidden Voices curriculum for NYC’s Department of Education.

Karen Feldman is founder of New York City Public School Alliance (NYCPS Alliance) an advocacy group committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for Jewish students throughout our public school system. She designed a Holocaust curriculum that has been widely implemented in the schools. Since 10/7, she has recognized the urgency of bringing teachers parents and students together to share their experiences and report incident of antisemitism in the classroom.
This event is especially relevant for parents with school-age children but all are welcome!
This event is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Naftali Foundation.
