David Schechter, a multi-talented theater artist whose shows have been seen on and Off-Broadway as well as nationally and internationally, will be our Shabbat Club guest. David will do a dramatic reading of the short story, "Gimpel the Fool" by Isaac Bashevis Singer. There will be time after his reading for comments and questions. Many of David's shows have been Jewish themed, including Soul Doctor on Broadway and Hannah Senesh, which the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene is reviving (in English) Off-Broadway this October. His adaptation of Singer's signature story "Gimpel the Fool" garnered Singer's personal endorsement. David has appeared on Broadway in Elizabeth Swados' Runaways and in The Threepenny Opera starring Sting.
